Individual 1:1 Music Therapy Services

I am a board-certified music therapist practicing for over 10 years. My practice to individual clients is limited to hospice, end of life care, palliative care, and bereavement. I serve all ages from a few months old to 106 (oldest so far) with a variety of medical conditions (cancers, dementia, neuromuscular diseases, stroke, cardiovascular disease, to name a few). Many of my clients are seen through Ridgeview Hospice or other organizations, but I am also available to see individual clients. I see clients in their own homes, residential hospices, long term care nursing facilities, assisted living, adult foster care homes, and inpatient hospitals. My general area I practice is in the western Twin Cities Metro area and rural areas west of the cities. I serve other areas for an additional fee.

Music Therapy can be very beneficial to people of all ages at the end of life. Music brings memories and allows for reminiscence and life review as a way to help find life meaning- even for those with advanced dementia. It is a vehicle for emotional expression. It can soothe pain, anxiety, agitation, and bring comfort to an otherwise uncomfortable time. It can provide emotional and spiritual support. It can also provide positive interaction for those with dementia and their loved ones. It can support the needs of the entire family, not just the client. As a holistic treatment, it focuses on the needs of the whole person, not just the disease or condition.

Small Group Music Therapy Services

I do offer some group music therapy services on a limited basis. Groups can be adapted to meet the needs of a wide variety of ages and populations. I currently do small groups for ages ranging from preschoolers to seniors. Groups are tailored to meet the needs of participants. Groups may include combinations of singing, drumming, playing other instruments, movement, relaxation, visualization & imagery, and music listening. Please contact me for more information about group music therapy services and availability.

Large Group Therapeutic Music Performance

I also do large group interactive performances and events for all ages. Groups I offer include:

  • group singing
  • group instrument playing
  • intergenerational events

I do events for hospitals, clinics, care facilities, adult daycare, child daycare, schools, conferences, adult foster care, churches, retreats, support groups and others. I also do interactive presentations.

I have experience working in several areas and with several populations as a music therapist. I received my degree in music therapy from Augsburg College in Minneapolis Minnesota and conducted my clinical internship at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in Oncology, Hospice, Neurology, and Chronic Pain. I am Board Certified in Music Therapy. I have also researched the music and healing traditions of many indigenous cultures and incorporate what I have learned into my music therapy practice.
